Assessing Sport Skills

Sport skills already have their own field of study in science and are closely connected with training sciences and sport biomechanics. The object in sport skills is the scientific interaction with the motor function of the person in the application-orientated environment of sports.

A certain level in sport skills must be reached in order to function successfully in sports. The areas of endurance, power, speed, agility and coordination skills form the basis of successfully completing the wide range of comprehensive sport-related motor tasks. Determining the existing performance level is achieved by testing the sport skills.

The contents are customized to meet the requirements profile of the respective sport type (Ex.: A soccer player normally doesn’t need a test for hand reactions or sprint distances selected by sport type). An assessment of the results demonstrate the corresponding strengths and weaknesses in sport skills. The trainer then has the responsibility to deal with the individual deficits in the training process and to target specific improvements in a retest.
